About
Błotnik is the Polish word for fender — the mudguard on a bicycle or automobile. It's also where the name of the most iconic guitar brand in history comes from. That's the etymology. This is the publication. Błotnik starts there.
Fender Custom Shop guitars occupy a specific and serious corner of the collector world — instruments built by hand, in limited numbers, with provenance that matters and stories worth documenting. Błotnik exists to cover that world with the depth and aesthetic seriousness it deserves: the craftsmanship behind team-built instruments, the culture of Limited Edition releases, the acquisition stories that never make it into dealer listings.
My name is Phil Gajewski. I'm a corporate insurance executive based in Michigan, and I've been collecting Fender Custom Shop guitars since 2022. My collection runs deep in team-built instruments — Limited Editions, limited runs, and pieces with provenance worth documenting. I've got a Guitar World byline, a CCS College of Art and Design background, and an obsessive attention to detail that follows me from the office into my guitar room.
Błotnik exists because this world deserves better documentation than it currently gets. These aren't just guitars — they're objects with history, craft, and stories attached. I intend to tell those stories the way they deserve to be told.
New articles publish weekly. If you collect guitars, or aspire to, you're in the right place.
